Dancer/choreographer Tandy Beal and her partner Jon Scoville have been invited to participate in a international conference on children’s art and education in Nova Olinda, Brazil August 6th-10th.
The conference will bring together leading musicians, dancers, and teachers from Africa, Europe and North and South America.
The sponsoring organization, Fundaçao Casa Grande has a unique profile in Brazil and plays a central role in the community where it is located. Serving as an after-school program, it is a place where young people ages 3-20 can gather to learn modern technology (audio, television, radio, and related computer skills) as well as literature, archeology, music and dance.
Beal, who is creating a similar program in Santa Cruz called ArtSmart, said . . . “ We are honored to be part of this uplifting program, and look forward to sharing ideas and bringing back new insights to our own community."
